Picture done as a gift.
This is also the second dog that I've done and it had to look exactly like him so I took my time getting the face just right, using a grid to map everything out and then it was just a process of layering, scoring, detailing, highlights and repeating until I'd got the desired effect. I'm really happy with how this came out.
Sadly after putting in all this work my enjoyment of this project was completely tainted by the fact that the recipient turned out to be one of the most genuinely unpleasant, ungrateful and narcissistic people I've ever had to work with so part of me wishes I hadn't done this at all. But, life lesson learned, right.
Done with wax pencils and built up in layers, utilising my usual pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 31 colours.
His eyes were done with white, dark indigo, raw umber, Payne's grey, black and cold grey 2.
His nose was done with white, dark indigo, black and cold grey 6.
His ears were done with white, dark flesh, medium flesh, Payne's grey, terracotta, burnt ochre, Venetian red, warm grey 2 and warm grey 5.
His mouth and teeth were done with white, cream, Payne's grey, black and cold grey 1.
His tongue was done with white, medium flesh, light flesh and Payne's grey.
Duncan's fur was done with white, earth green, dark sepia, walnut brown, Payne's grey, brown ochre, siena natur ochre, terracotta, burnt ochre, Venetian red, cold grey 1, cold grey 2, cold grey 6 and warm grey 4.
His tail was done with white and warm grey 3.
The harness was done with night green, black, cold grey 1, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The grass was done with white, Hooker's green, viridian, grass green (obviously - lol), permanent green olive, Payne's grey and siena natur ochre.
The leaves in the grass were done with white, walnut brown, Payne's grey, brown ochre (light) and Venetian red.
Finally, the background at the top of the picture was done with white, viridian, grass green, permanent green olive, walnut brown, siena natur ochre, black, cold grey 1, warm grey 4 and warm grey 6.

Completion time: 111 hours 34 minutes
