Still going strong with my speed challenge series, the Clones take centre stage for the next couple of pieces. One of my favourite episodes of the first series was 'Rookies' and the scene where Hevy sacrifices himself for the squad was memorable.
I wanted to do this scene because it presented a unique lighting challenge. Despite CT armour being white, very little of it is in this scene because of the darkness of the Rishi Outpost and the light from the Merr-Sonn Z6 as he blasts the incoming Battle Droids.
Done with wax pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 17 colours.
Hevy's helmet was done with white, violet, cobalt blue greenish, light blue, dark phthalo blue, Payne's grey, light ochre, black, cold grey 6, warm grey 1, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
His undersuit was done with cobalt blue greenish, light blue, black and warm grey 6.
His armour was done with white, violet, cobalt blue greenish, light blue, dark phthalo blue, Payne's grey, black, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
His boots were done with white, violet, cobalt blue greenish, light blue, Payne's grey, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The Merr-Sonn Munitions Z6 rotary cannon was done with white, violet, delft blue, cobalt blue greenish, light blue, dark phthalo blue, Payne's grey, warm grey 2, warm grey 3, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The outpost walls were done with white, dark carmine, violet, light blue, Payne's grey, warm grey 2, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The ceiling was done with violet, cobalt blue greenish, warm grey 2, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
Finally, the floor was done with violet, light blue, dark phthalo blue, Payne's grey, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.

Completion time: 7 hours 47 minutes.
