After the release of the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok the other day I've been really excited to see the movie. I love the M.C.U. and this trailer has got me all hyped to see the film now.
So, with Led Zepplin's Immigrant Song firmly jammed into my brain, I set myself the task of drawing a couple of things from the film so here we have 'Arena: Part 1'. You can probably all guess what 'Part 2' is but I'm still working on that one
The Star Wars speed challenge work has paid off because I've managed to get this one done in a third of the time it used to take me. Admittedly, there are not as many details in this piece compared to other works but I just had the need to get this done.
Done with wax pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 10 colours.
Thor's eyes were done with white, dark sepia and warm grey 4.
His skin was done with white, dark sepia, warm grey 1, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
His beard was done with white, warm grey 3, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
Thor's helmet was done with white, dark sepia, Payne's grey, black, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
His armour was done with white, black, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
His clothes were done with white, Payne's grey, black, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The sword handle was done with white, black, warm grey 1 and warm grey 5.
Finally, the soft focus arena wall was done with white, black, warm grey 2, warm grey 3, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.

Completion time: 12 hours.
