I started messing around with iconic spaceship images a few years ago, taking favourites from films and TV shows and just putting them against different space backdrops. So, I started with one of my favourite craft, the Cylon Radier from the original Battlestar Galactica. I loved the shape of these fighters and the way they would flip and roll to attack targets.
Done with polychromos colour pencils and built up in layers, utilising pressure application techniques, the picture consists of 21 colours.
The Cylon Raider was done with white, ivory, light phthalo blue, viridian, black, cold grey II cold grey 3, cold grey 4, warm grey 1, warm grey 3 and warm grey 5
The nebula and space backdrop was done with white, lemon, dark chrome yellow, light orange, dark orange, peacock blue, grass green, caput mortuum, grey green, black, deep scarlet red and warm grey 5
