It's 'Way Back Wednesday' and today we go back to October 2015 with an card for my friend Kim. With 'Solo' coming out next week I thought it would be appropriate to do have something with that scoundrel that we all know and love.
Kim helped out with a lot of costuming stuff and we agreed that I'd do a piece of art for her in exchange for her assistance.
Previously I did one of her favourite alien characters, Gul Dukat from DS9, which you can find in my Star Trek folder. Knowing how much she loves Han, there was only one choice that time around.
There are loads of 'hero' shots of Han but I wanted to do something different. So, I settled on Han fixing his beloved Millennium Falcon.
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 12 colours. The background actually proved to be more of a challenge than Solo himself but after the practice getting the one on Dallas' card for July the same year, it wasn't as bad as it could've been.
Han's hair was done with Payne's grey, black, cold grey 6, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
His face, eyes and skin were done with white, black, cold grey 1, cold grey 6 and warm grey 5.
His hands were done with a base of white and then washed and highlighted with cold grey 1.
The jacket was done with, Payne's grey, black, cold grey 1, cold grey 6, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The shirt was done with white a wash of warm grey 1 and detailed with warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The tool kit and tools were done with white, black, cold grey 2, cold grey 6, warm grey 1, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
Finally, the Falcon background was done with white, black, cold grey 3, cold grey 6, warm grey 1, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.

Completion time: 80 hours 17 minutes.

I didn't do 'from my desk' shots back then but here's the framed image before it was given :)

Nothing like a hypospanner in the back of the head to sharpen the senses. Wonderful job.
