Card done for Jolene's birthday, June 2017.
Jolene sent me this image in 2016 of a female ruby throat hummingbird as something she would like for her birthday.
After losing her last year I was still going to do the picture as a tribute to a wonderful woman who we miss very much.
So, this one's for you Momma Jolene  

Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 31 colours.
The hummingbird's head was done with white, ivory, light magenta, magenta, may green, siena natur ochre, black, cold grey 5, cold grey 6 and warm grey 2.
The hummingbird's body was done with white, leaf green, light magenta, sky blue, light blue, earth green yellowish, siena natur ochre, black, cold grey 3, cold grey 5 and warm grey 2.
The hummingbird's wings were done with white, rose madder lake, madder, sky blue, caput mortuum, brown ochre (light), naples yellow, black, cold grey 3 and cold grey 5.
The flowers were done with white, light magenta, rose carmine, middle purple pink, rose madder lake, medium flesh, light flesh, blue violet, caput mortuum, naples yellow and cold grey 5.
The foliage was done with white, permanent green olive, caput mortuum, may green, siena natur ochre, black, cadmium yellow lemon and cold grey 6.
The background and unfocused foliage was done with white, light magenta, rose carmine, middle purple pink, medium flesh, light flesh, magenta, blue violet, light phthalo blue, sky blue, oriental blue, earth green yellowish, grey green, siena natur ochre, naples yellow, cold grey 3, cold grey 5, cold grey 6 and mauve.
